RESIDENCY PROGRAM EXPERIENCE
What is the most important thing you learnt during residency? Listen to what everyone has to tell you. Never discount anyone’s input.
What is the key to being a good patient advocate? Understanding that you can make a difference. But that rarely happens during 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. So go the extra mile.
In the moments of self-doubt, how do you build yourself back up? Mistakes will happen. The feeling is gut wrenchingly terrible. No advice will prepare you for that. But just keep showing up. Analyze what happened. Keep trying your best. You’ll trust yourself again. And you’ll be better for it.
What is the best way to find a good mentor? Don’t be shy. Knock on a door. Send an email. Just ask around. It’s a friendly place.
What should new interns look forward to when starting the program? Orientation week. It lives up to the hype.
The biggest misconception about intern year is that you are a glorified medical student.
The one thing you absolutely should do during your intern year is go on a class trip at the end of the year somewhere amazing.
The one thing you should avoid during your intern year are big life decisions. It’s already tough enough just trying to figure out how to order Tylenol.
Favorite residency event? Bronson’s Day.
What’s the best advice you have been given? Follow up EVERY diagnostic test. The quickest way to hurt a patient is to miss a result.

A night on the town: Ohio City. Great patios galore.
